The Atlanta Falcons and Las Vegas Raiders meet on ‘Monday Night Football,’ and plenty of questions will be answered in the matchup.
First, for the Falcons. Quarterback Kirk Cousins has gone through a significantly difficult stretch of football in recent weeks, throwing eight interceptions to no touchdowns in Atlanta’s last four games. That poor play has resulted in a four-game skid for a team that once looked poised to challenge for the NFC South crown.
Instead, questions have arisen over Cousins’ viability as the starter and the likelihood that the Falcons can finish the job in the division. Still, Atlanta is within striking distance of the NFC South title, but it will need Cousins to get right on Monday night. Luckily, he has the right opponent to do it against.
There are many, many more questions about the direction of the Raiders. Nothing has gone right for the silver and black this year, from the quarterback position on down. That has led to questions around the job security of Antonio Pierce, who is in his first full season as Raiders head coach.
Pierce had to navigate some choppy waters this season, some of his own making. Still, with questions about the roster, the coach and the future, the Raiders are likely looking more toward next year than they are Monday.
